Community members, volunteers, and local Forester with Congressman Don Sherwood Projects funded through the NEPA UCFP have involved more than 2,450 partners in planting, tree risk assessment, restoration projects on degraded mine lands and parks, along highways, trails, and river corridors, and in downtown districts, neighborhoods, schools, and at tourist attractions.

Volunteers generously water a newly planted bare root tree.
Examples of these projects include the re-greening of strip-mined and coal waste sites, streamside and riparian buffer restoration, trail enhancements, street tree and park plantings, highway beautification, forest stewardships activities, cultural and business district revitalizations, and environmental education.

Tree plantings are an important part of downtown restoration projects.
